Know About Pakistanis Named in ICIJ’s Pandora Papers!

Pandora Papers: More than 700 Pakistanis including Shaukat Tareen, Faisal Vawda, Sharjeel Memon, Monis Elahi and Ali Dar own Offshore companies.

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has once again raised the issue of money laundering of the wealthy elite through Pandora Papers.

The Pandora Papers, which were released on Sunday has unveiled the names of more than 700 Pakistanis, who own offshore companies.

The PTI government ministers, bankers, owners of media houses and retired military officials have been named in the leaks.

Following are the PTI government ministers who own offshore companies

The Pandora Papers featured the offshore companies of Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen, Federal Minister Monis Elahi and Senator Faisal Wawda.

The Pandora Papers also include the names of Federal Minister Khusro Bakhtiar, his brothers Umar Bakhtiar, Shoaib Sheikh and Arif Naqvi.

The investigation revealed the offshore company of former Punjab minister Abdul Aleem Khan, while the offshore company of PML-N leader Ishaq Dar’s son is also named in the Pandora Papers.

Former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Waqar Masood’s son’s offshore company also came out, while Shoaib Sheikh’s offshore company is also included in the Pandora Papers.

PPP leader Sharjeel mamon name also among those who own offshore company.

Ali Dar, son of Former PMLN finance minister Ishaq Dar’s name is also in Pandora Papers.

Retired Military officers who own offshore companies

The names of several retired military officers and their relatives are also among 700 Pakistani.

According to Investigation, former President Pervez Musharraf’s then former military secretary Lt. Gen. (retd) Shafaatullah Shah also own Offshore company.

In 2007, the wife of retired Lt Gen Shafaat Ullah Shah, a former aide to then-president Pervez Musharraf, acquired a $1.2 million apartment in London through a discreet offshore company.

According to the report, the leaked documents showed that an offshore company has also emerged in the name of former ISI Director General for Counter-Terrorism Major General (retd) Nusrat Naseem.

Major General (retd) Nusrat Naseem registered an offshore company in 2009 immediately after his retirement.

The report further said that the son of Lieutenant General (retd) Afzal Muzaffar son’s own an offshore company.

Lieutenant General (retd) Ali Khan’s sister bought properties in the UK through an offshore company.

The Pandora Papers contain 11 million files and the investigation involved more than 600 reporters from 150 media outlets in 117 countries.

Senior Pakistani journalists Umar Cheema and Fakhar Durrani were part in the world’s largest investigation.
