Musician Arooj Aftab Bags Two Nomination in Grammy Awards.
Pakistani singer, vocalist, composer and producer Arooj Aftab has been nominated for the 64th Grammy Awards – in the Best New Artist category alongside artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, FINNEAS, The Kid LAROI and Jimmie Allen as well as a nomination for Best Global Performance award.
The Grammys nominated the Arooj Aftab’s song ‘Mohabbat’ which former US President Barack Obama had listed as one of his favourite summer playlist earlier this year.
The Grammy awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on January 31, 2022.
Celebrities and Fans took to social media shortly after the announcement to wish her, with Hadiqa Kiani leading the congratulations on Twitter.
Who is Arooj Aftab?
As per ‘Pitch Fork’, details, Arooj Aftab was born in Saudi Arabia then with her family moved to Lahore.
She later went to Burklee College of Music in United States, where she studied music production and engineering before moving to New York.
Aftab’s cover of “Hallelujah”, Canadian singer Leonard Cohen’s song – was the first song to go viral on YouTube and social media.
Arooj’s latest album “Vulture Prince” was released in May this year – include seven songs among which “Mohabbat” was on Barack Obama’s summer playlist as well.
