About this incident, the military officers claim that ‘they were removed at the behest of Imran Khan’, but Imran Khan never gave any explanation or denial about it.
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s close associates prevented him from being appointed as the Army Chief by naming Lt. Gen. Asim Munir.
It is said about General Asim Munir that on one hand he has been a great officer and commander but on the other hand it is also pointed out that his appointment as Army Chief has also become a ‘political issue’ among political parties.
Before the nomination of Asim Munir, questions were being raised about him on technical grounds. Asim Munir was retiring on November 27 and General Qamar Javed Bajwa on November 29.
